The management committee of the Buckland Brewer Community Shop Limited is delighted to announce that it has had a conditional grant offer of over £24,000 towards the project’s startup costs.
The award comes at a great time for the project as the shop membership share was launched on 31 March. The committee aims to raise £6000 over three months through the share offer. Every £ raised through local fundraising reduces the reliance on grant and loan funding and increases local ownership of the project.
The £24,000 grant will be made under the Village SOS scheme, a Big Lottery Fund (BIG) and BBC initiative to help rural villages across the UK regenerate their communities through new community enterprises.
For more details about the grant offer, see the shop press release. The shop website also has a copy of the share offer prospectus and application form.
